Allergan, the pharmaceutical company responsible for Botox is expected to launch the dermal filler Juvederm in the United States market shortly.
Juvederm is a Hyaluronic acid in the form of a transparent gel. The injectable filler will position itself as an alternative to the market leader Restylane, which is distributed in the US by Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation. The FDA approved the use of Juvederm for cosmetic treatment in June of this year.
Both Juvederm and Restylane are injectable dermal fillers that smooth out creases and wrinkles in the skin by adding volume. Each treatment lasts about six to nine months. More information on Juvederm can be found in this article.
