71 year old actress proud of her new breasts PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 01 March 2007
A 71 year old English actress, Joanne Dainton, is reported to be delighted with her new breasts after undergoing breast augmentation surgery.
Mrs. Dainton, who has appeared in films alongside Kirk Douglas and Roger Moore, says that the surgery has changed her life for the better, changing the appearance of her breasts from what she described as "cow's udders". Before the surgery, she would never let her husband see her naked, but she is now confident enough to wear a bikini at the beach.

Mrs Dainton, from the Isle of Man, had previosuly undergone reconstructive surgery to her abdomen after suffering a burst gall bladder. These procedures had left her with extensive scarring, which she rectified with a tummy tuck. However, she also decided to undergo a breast augmentation to correct the sagging that had occurred over time, and to restore her body image.

She said "I was told repeatedly from a young age by my mother that I was 'a dumpling' and she referred to my breasts as cow udders. I remember my father saying breast over heels. It affected my confidence deeply and I never let my husband see me naked."

"My bosom was down to my waist. While I was in hospital for my tummy a doctor said you should really do something about your bosom."

"I haven't looked back. I now have no problem with letting my husband see my body and I feel I've been let out of my personal prison."

Recovery from the procedure, however, was not without its difficulties.

"It isn't a bowl of cherries. I had to sleep in a corset for two months. I had to sleep in a bra for ages. But the end result is fantastic. I can go out in dresses and bikinis."

Dalia Nield, the London surgeon who led the all female team providing the operation said she is seeing an increase in the number of older women seeking plastic surgery such as this.

"More and more I am approached by people like Joanne who want to achieve and maintain a youthful appearance - and these figures show just how much cosmetic surgery is becoming a viable option for people of all age groups wanting to improve their appearance.

"It is no longer just a celebrity or superstar option - but a real prospect for people who wish to change something that has affected their confidence, or to help them look as young as they feel. As long as the person is fit and healthy - which is established at a consultation and full examination - there is no reason why people in their 60s, 70s and even 80s can't consider cosmetic surgery."

A recent survey by insurance giant AXA indicates that 230,000 UK pensioners have undergone plastic surgery. The survey also showed that 9 percent of pensioners would consider having plastic surgery if it meant that they could improve their appearance and 24 percent felt that plastic surgery would offer them a chance to look younger.
