Inflatable breast implants PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 27 September 2006
A surgeon in San Antonio, Texas, claim that most women who have had breast augmentation surgery say afterwards that they wish that they had chosen a larger size. However, instead of pre-surgical consultation, Dr. Thomas Jeneby's solution is to provide adjustable breast implants.
The modifications to the implant are inserted through a one inch incision and a small valve inserted that allows modification to the breast size using saline. Once the original augmentation procedure is performed, the patient is expected to try the new non-adjusted size for up to six months. If, after this period the patient requires a modification, the breast size can be modified by the addition or withdrawal of saline, until the patient feels that she has the perfect size for her.

After six months, the tube is removed using the same incision that was used for the original surgery. Dr Jeneby has performed about 35 of these procedures to date, adding that the technique adds just ten minutes to the length of the surgical procedure and increases the cost of the breast augmentation by about $100.
