Figures released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery show that the public's attitude towards plastic and cosmetic surgery is at an all time high.
The report surveyed 1000 American adults and found that the majority (62%) are in favour of cosmetic surgery, marking an 8 percent increase from the previous year. Other findings from the study include:
- 63% of women approve of cosmetic surgery versus 61% of men.
- Women are 16% more likely to consider plastic surgery than men.
- Senior citizens are now 11% more likely to approve of cosmetic surgery that they were last year.
- Young adults (18-24 years old) are the group most likely to approve of cosmetic surgery.
Last year, women had more than 10 million surgical and non surgical cosmetic procedures (92% of total) while men had nearly 1 million procedures (8%).
