One in 5 consumers planning cosmetic surgery PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 27 November 2006
One in five consumers said they would consider having cosmetic surgery with Russians most enthusiastic about the idea, according to a new survey by market researcher ACNielsen.
A staggering half of Russians surveyed said they would be prepared to have cosmetic surgery to stave off the effects of ageing, followed by Greeks, Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians.

At the other end of the scale, 94 percent of Hong Kong residents were against the idea of having cosmetic surgery to look better, as were 92 percent of Indonesians and 91 percent of Japanese and Malaysians.

The results of the survey also show a difference in attitude to cosmetic surgery based on the respondent's age, with teenagers and 20 to 30 year olds most enthusiastic about the concept, and those over 65 least likely to fight the effects of ageing through cosmetic surgery.

The survey polled 22,780 Internet users in 41 markets worldwide.
