"She wasn't vain, but she wanted liposuction so she could wear tailored trousers," her husband Alan said. The couple were together at their apartment in Manchester on July 22 when Mrs Bainbridge complained of feeling unwell. "She fainted, but the paramedics who arrived didn't seem too concerned - so I didn't worry too much," her husband said. "I followed in the car and when I arrived at hospital, they said she was extremely poorly. She had suffered a massive heart attack, but because she was so fit she survived. She was on life support and they fought really hard to save her, but in the end there was nothing they could do." "We're not blaming anyone. We don't know why she died. It's a terrible tragedy." he added. "But it could have been a complication from the operation. The doctors said it could have been a blood clot or an aneurism. We'll have to wait and see what the coroner says." Ann Cooke, clinical operations manager at Capio Fulwood Hospital, said in a statement: 'We're very saddened by Mrs Bainbridge's death and our thoughts are with her family at this time. We are co-operating fully with the ongoing investigation and are awaiting a full report when it is complete." |
