A doctor who operated on a Canadian woman who died after a liposuction procedure was the subject of a complaint to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, over alleged "deceptive" advertising.
The complaint centred on the difference between the term cosmetic surgeon and plastic surgeon. The doctor, Behnaz Yazdanfar, had promoted herself as a surgeon who could provide liposuction and breast implant procedures, although she is not a certified plastic surgeon. The regulatory body dismissed the complaint, although the decision was appealed and is currently under review. Since the death of Krista Stryland (pictured), a successful Toronto, Canada real estate agent who died following liposuction carried out at the Toronto Cosmetic Clinic in Canada, a 66 year old grandmother has come forward to say that she was hospitalized with serious heart complications following a liposuction procedure on July 11th by Dr. Yazdanfar at the same clinic.
No one ever told me that I was not being worked on by a plastic surgeon.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, told a local newspaper: I don't know the difference between a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon. That's the problem. I wasn't lied to. I just wasn't told.
