Liposuction remains the most common plastic surgery procedure performed in the United States, according to the latest statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Almost 1000 Americans per day underwent liposuction every day in 2003, representing a 117% increase over the last 7 years. As the weather heated up and swimsuit season approached, people concentrate more on getting into shape. Visits to the fitness centers and plastic surgeons' offices increase. "Liposuction has definitely become the quick fix," says Dr. Edward Domanskis, a plastic surgeon in Newport Beach, California, with extensive experience in body contouring. "It is one of the most satisfying operations for me and my patients," claims Dr. Domanskis, "for I am able to achieve dramatic and permanent improvement through tiny cuts and little downtime." This explains liposuction's steadily increasing popularity, especially among baby boomers. "Almost every individual is a candidate for liposuction, for everyone has some unwanted fat that they would love to get rid of," concludes Dr. Domanskis. |
