Make that spare fat look great PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 23 August 2006
While the only way to get a genuine "six pack" abdomen has been to hit the gym, a new process called LipoSelection can actually help people with exercise resistant fat make that fat work for them and appear to have a beautifully toned abdomen.

It is one of the newest technological advancements available for patients wanting to get rid of stubborn fat that tends to lodge itself around waists, hangs from arms, and clings to backs. High-definition LipoSelection works by sucking the excess fat out and then moulding the existing fat, so it ends up looking like toned muscle.
John Millard, M.D., warns, that the new procedure is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, but LipoSelection can eliminate areas of fat that are unresponsive to typical weight-loss methods." He says this is the most advanced approach to fat removal available today because it is able to differentiate fatty tissue from tissue that should be left undisturbed (such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue).

According to the Academic Dermatology and Skin Cancer Institute, the VASER® technology used for liposelection is so gentle and specific that it was originally used to treat brain tumors.

Dr. Millard says this new technology, unlike liposuction systems of the past, uses pulsed energy, which leaves much less partially emulsified fat in situ. High-frequency sound waves target and dissolve less resistant fat cells on contact, while harmlessly bouncing off other healthy and important tissues; the emulsified fat flows into the wetting solution and is easily extracted because it is in a liquid form. This unique process allows the skin to retract readily after the procedure and minimizes the pain and bruising typically associated with fat removal. Dr. Millard says, "The result is fast recovery and a return to normal activities within days, not weeks!"

The FDA approved LipoSelection in September of 2002 for use in fat removal. LipoSelection has reduced both the incidence and severity of potential complications associated with fat removal such as:
  • contour irregularities
  • prolonged swelling
  • loss of sensation or prolonged numbing
  • blood clots, bruising, collections of fluid under the skin called seromas, and skin discoloration.
However, Dr. Millard warns, "Neither liposuction or LipoSelection are for the significantly obese patient." He adds, "It's for the highly athletic patient who wants to have a nicer figure. Average people with an average amount of fat, and good skin tone are great candidates."
