Micro Liposuction explained PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 04 January 2007
Micro liposuction is a different form of liposuction used by surgeons to target the smaller areas of the body and smaller areas of fat. Micro liposuction is commonly employed in facial liposuction, especially the cheeks, neck, under the chin, and the jowls. When liposuction is performed on other small pockets of fat throughout the body using cannulae, it may also be referred to as micro liposuction. Micro liposuction is a less invasive type of liposuction and is becoming one of the most popular forms of liposuction chosen today.
Micro liposuction uses much smaller tubes (cannuale), providing the surgeon with the ability to remove excess fat deposits with greater precision. This form of liposuction requires a much shorter recovery period than the standard form of liposuction with less visible scarring because of the smaller tool that is used to complete the procedure.

Micro liposuction is less expensive than the standard form of liposuction. It can range anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 per treatment with the cost varying depending on the number of areas requiring treatment and the difficulty of operating on particular parts of the body. However, if you are overweight by more than twenty pounds, micro liposuction may not be the answer for you.

Micro liposuction has become available nearly everywhere that standard liposuction is available. When it comes time to decide which form of liposuction is best for you, this largely depends on the amount of excess fat that you are hoping to remove and the area of the body to be treated. For people who only want to remove a small pocket of exercise resistant fat, micro liposuction will generally be the most suitable choice. However, your surgeon will generally guide you in the most appropriate procedure for your particular situation.
