Cosmetic Surgery Adverts in Ireland ads to be allowed on Irish TV |

Irish broadcasting authorities are to lift the ban on TV and radio adverts for Cosmetic Surgery in Ireland. The move allows the growing number of cosmetic surgery clinics in Ireland to advertise directly to Ireland's increasingly wealthy population.
The move is a reversal in policy since July of this year, when draft guidelines were issued. Broadcasters and cosmetic surgery clinics in Ireland objected to the draft proposals, in which cosmetic surgery was still among the categories of services that could not be advertised on TV or radio.
Representatives of the cosmetic surgery industry in Ireland argued there was no reason why they should be banned from advertising in a set of modern codes.
