Cosmetic surgeons reported a sharp increase is demand for cosmetic surgery by men in 2005 and report that it is still growing rapidly.

Many, if not all the men who opt for cosmetic surgery choose a small and inconspicuous type of surgery that improves their looks but not by so much that people can see obvious differences and changes. This is the difference between men and women because many women have cosmetic surgery done for the attention. Men, just like women, believe that their appearance does play a part in the success of their career and they are obviously feeling the pressures just like the women amongst their office.

Liposuction, face-lifts and eyelid surgery are the most popular choices for the men in the world of cosmetic surgery. These procedures are taken advantage of by the men for the same reasons why women take advantage of these procedures. Men of course want the washboard stomachs for the beach and the tight buns for their office suits. There are some men in the world today who are more concerned about their looks than women and spend millions of dollars on procedures to enhance their natural appearance.

Male cosmetic surgery used to be something taboo in the American society but with the increasing numbers it is almost impossible to call this taboo anymore. Men and women are living in the same world and society, so it should be no shock that men are feeling the same pressures as the women. As of today men are very discreet about their procedures, but this type of discretion will not last long the more common and comfortable people become with this new development in the cosmetic surgery world. Men need to consider the same side effects, recovery times and personal details as women do to ensure that they are making the right decision for themselves.
