NZ Plastic Surgeons call for regulations |

Plastic Surgeons in New Zealand are urging the Medical Council to take a stronger stance to clamp down on what they say are "dangerous operators" in the cosmetic surgery industry.
In response, the Medical Council has now invited submissions on its draft statement on cosmetic surgery procedures in New Zealand.
Several of the country's leading plastic surgeons have been critical of the existing regulations in New Zealand for plastic surgery. Tristan De Chalain, president of the Foundation for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, says that is dangerous and in some cases mistakes can be fatal.
After receiving submissions, the Medical Council is expected to introduce new regulations covering cosmetic surgery by the end of 2007.
