A new survey reveals that one in three women would consider plastic surgery, saying that they were favourably disposed to the idea of having surgery to correct defects or to improve their looks.
The result shows the increasing acceptability of plastic surgery among the general public, and the proportion of women who say that they would consider plastic surgery has doubled in just two years. The increase is partly attributable to a growing awareness of different procedures such as liposuction and tummy tucks, made popular by TV shows such as Nip/Tuck and Extreme Makeover, but also by advances in technology such as smart liposuction and Trans Umbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA) that has reduced surgical risks, scarring and recovery times.
In the survey, conducted by Key Note Market Research, the most popular procedure was a breast lift, which was the first choice for 12% of women, with 8% choosing breast implants.
The increase in popularity and acceptability of plastic surgery is not confined just to women, with 11% of men saying that they would also consider going under the knife to improve their appearance, targeting man boobs, flabby tummies and love handles.
