Nasal spray to help weight loss |

Trials are under way with a nasal spray that its developers claim could help people lose weight easily.
The spray, codenamed CP404, is said to help weight loss by inhibiting the user's sense of smell and taste. With these tastes turned down, a person's appetite may also be decreased, so that users of the spray will be inclined to eat less.
The Massachusetts pharmaceutical company developing the spray, Compellis Pharmaceuticals, believe that the spray might reduce a person's sense of smell by as much as 70 to 80 per cent. Trials have now been established to start testing the product with human volunteers in March. However, even if these trials are successful, it is unlikely that the company would gain regulatory approval for the product before 2010, and even then, it will be a prescription only item.
