The hospital and the surgeon dispute her claims and have said that they will contest the suit when the trial begins in January. The case follows the death last year of Ross Tay, a patient weighing 160 kilograms, who died in Singapore last year as a result of post-surgical complications following his gastric band procedure. Larsson claims that she suffered intense pain immediately after the operation and developed a chest infection and stomach perforation two days later. She underwent surgery to have the gastric band removed and the perforation repaired. Although discharged, she was admitted to another Singapore hospital for two weeks to treat an infection in the surgical wound, and underwent a third operation on her chest. In addition to the remaining scars, Larsson claims that she now suffers from depression and pain in her left ribs. |
