New study offers hope for cellulite treatment
A recent study offers hope of a naturally occurring enzyme being used to treat cellulite. The enzyme, collagenase, was used in a pilot study and reduced the appearance of cellulite by 86%.

Treating cellulite with caffeine
Although cosmetic firms have been using the caffeine derivative, methylxanthine, as an active ingredient in firming creams for years, an Austrian lingerie company has taken the concept further - caffeine impregnated tights to treat the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite - curse of supermodels and ordinary women alike
Among the super-rich and super-glamorous, it appears that even catwalk models can't avoid the curse of most women - cellulite. Kate moss, Cindy Crawford and Jerry Hall have all suffered the indignity of having their beach photos reveal the dreaded orange peel look, and doctors say that there's little that can be done to cure it, whether you're a high flyer or a mere mortal.

Millions are spent each year on creams and machines that claim to shift cellulite, or its appearance from legs and thighs, while numerous weight loss programs also promise to get rid of those unsightly creases in the skin.

Controversy continues over Mesotherapy component
While women seeking a cure for cellulite are keen to avail of the latest treatments to rid themselves of the condition, doctors warn that these treatments include a broad range of injections, including phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate, the effects of which remain largely unknown.

"I try to warn people that we don't have a lot of data regarding these types of treatments," says Glynis R. Ablon, M.D., clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and director of the Ablon Skin Institute, Manhattan Beach, Calif. "For people to be randomly using these injections and putting them basically anywhere on the body without any studies behind them is going to create complications.

Losing weight may actually make cellulite worse, study suggests.

It seems as if women just can't win in their efforts to beat the bulge and look beautiful.  A new study adds to their woes by revealing that losing weight may actually increase cellulite. Around 85% of women have cellulite - and celebrity magazines love to show their readers which stars have the tell-tale "orange peel" dimples on their thighs.

Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite (adiposis edematosa), a condition that affects most adult women, is a dimpling of skin, caused by the protrusion of subcutaneous fat into the top layer of skin, creating an undulating dermal-subcutaneous fat junction adipose tissue which has been described as resembling a texture of cottage cheese, or orange peel. The condition is present in some degree among about 90% of adult women, although the condition tends to become more noticeable for women in their 30’s and older, and is more prevalent among Caucasian women.

While the condition has affected women through the ages, demand for treatment of the condition has grown enormously in recent years, with an 81 per cent increase in cellulite treatments since 2000 in the United States alone.
