Suicides linked to cosmetic surgery
Women who have received breast implants are up to three times more likely to commit suicide. One theory that has been put forward for the statistic is that leaks from breast implants could alter the patient's brain chemistry thereby making them more vulnerable to suicide or self harm. However surgeons and psychological experts suggests that while there may be a statistical link between having cosmetic surgery and committing suicide, the relationship between the two is not causal, i.e. the suicide is not caused by the cosmetic surgery, and that a third factor actually links the two issues.

Breast asymmetry correction surgery can significantly increase a patient's level of self esteem and quality of life, according to a recent study by Dr. Elvio Garcia from the Federal University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.


Botox used to treat clinical depression
A recent study indicates that Botox may have a secondary use - treatment of depression. In a study conducted by dermatologist, Dr. Eric Finzi, from the Chevy Chase Cosmetic Center in Maryland, 90% of patients in the trial had their depression treated successfully by botox treatments.

Breast implants reduce cancer risk, increase suicide risk
A new study of Canadian women indicates that patients with breast implants, while not facing any increase in cancer or other diseases, appear to show a higher than average risk of suicide. Of the 40,000 patients in the study, women who'd received cosmetic breast augmentation surgery had a lower risk of dying from breast cancer.
